Embsay Splash

Post  alcass on Fri Jun 06, 2014 10:38 pm

There was a rather autumnal feel to the weather at last night's first Splash event. Grey skies and a sometimes brisk wind didn't seem to put people off though. After a demonstration of rigging the Patrol Boat and some tips on doing duty, folk kitted up and had a briefing on Tacking from Jon. Then, on the water, they did figure of eights, tried to fit in multiple tacks, practised coming to rest, sailed a course and finally did some capsizing!

Well done to you all!

Splash sessions run for the next five weeks. see the details in your handbook.

Blue skies for Splash 2

Post  alcass on Mon Jun 16, 2014 7:54 am

Another good evening with steady wind and warm sunshine. Jon was delighted to have enough for two groups: one tacking whilst the other worked on gybing.

Everyone was excited by the beautiful bright red powerboat on duty - but sad to say, it is not ours! Thanks to Matthew Mason for covering helping us by covering the 'duty' (and getting a chance to try out his new boat too).

Don't miss out on Splash 3 next week.
